Help those in need with the Lions Club
Throughout 2022, the Holliston Lions Club will be collecting knitted and crocheted squares. They will be making blankets to donate to homeless shelters and others in need. Any pattern is acceptable and appreciated. Color does not matter as “diversity blankets” is the theme. Squares should be 8” X 8” and have an approximately 12” tail on them to join them to the next set of squares. They would prefer acrylic yarn versus wool for ease of washing/drying. Squares may be dropped off at the Holliston Senior Center.
¨ The Lions Club will also continue collecting used eyeglasses. It does not matter if they are prescription or non-prescription, all are accepted. Please no eyeglass cases! The glasses are cleaned, sorted, and distributed to people abroad who are unable to afford them. There is a drop box at the Senior Center.
Did you know the Lions also collect hearing aids? These hearing aids are repurposed and given at repair costs or a minor fee to those who need them most. They may be placed in the Lion’s eyeglass collection box at the Senior Center.
The Holliston Leo Club will be collecting can tabs —these are the tabs found on the tops of canned soups, vegetables and soda. The tabs are donated to Ronald McDonald House to help defray their operating costs so they are able to provide free housing to families of children who are being treated in children’s hospitals. These tabs may be collected in bags, small boxes, or jars and left at the Senior Center.
ADDITIONALLY: The Holliston Lions Club has two magnifiers available to lend. These are designed for anyone having issues reading mail, newspapers, or books without magnification. You can contact the Holliston Lions Club at [email protected] to borrow one. There is NO restriction on how long you may keep it. We only ask that if you are no longer using it that it is returned to the Senior Center so we can pass it on to the next person who needs it.
