On April 22, 2023, the Project 351 team of Ambassadors and Alumni from local communities belonging to Region 8 came together to celebrate Earth Day by serving at the Holliston Senior Center. This event was made possible by Ms. Lisa Borchetta and the Senior Support Foundation, who generously allowed us to utilize the space for a day of service.
The day was filled with service projects that aimed to make a positive impact on the environment and the community. It was truly inspiring to see the team’s commitment to serving the community even in the face of inclement weather. I am thrilled to report that we had a very successful day, with rock painting, book sorting, weeding, and planting perennial bulbs and flowering plants all completed.
Our team’s unwavering dedication to supporting the local community through our Earth Day service projects fills us with confidence that our efforts will continue to have a positive impact for years to come. Of particular note is the positive influence our service will have on the senior and student populations. Seeing the fruits of our labor, we believe they will be filled with a sense of pride and happiness that will undoubtedly brighten their day.
The rock painting project allowed the Ambassadors and Alumni to express their creativity while also creating decorative pieces that were displayed around the Senior Center for all to enjoy. Through the book sorting project, we organized hundreds of books by genre, making it easier for anyone to find the books they love. These books will be donated to local schools and communities in need. We will be donating these books to local schools and communities that direly need them. The weeding project helped beautify the garden and make it a safer and more pleasant space for the seniors to spend time in. Finally, the planting of bulbs and flowering plants brought new life to the garden and allowed the team to express the importance of caring for the environment.
In addition to taking an interest in our community and helping to make it a better place, we were able to gain a greater appreciation for the environment and the importance of giving back.
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Ms. Borchetta, the Senior Support Foundation, and the Project 351 leadership team for their continued inspiration, dedication, and encouragement. It is through their efforts that young people like us are able to come together and make a positive impact on our communities.
We look forward to continuing our work in Holliston and surrounding communities with Project 351 and making a difference in the lives of those around us.
